PineGrove Textile Studio came into being in 1999, weaving together a lifelong love of making clothes and painting canvases. Having earned a BFA at Pratt Institute, JoAnn went on to pursue her passion and post-baccalaureate studies in surface design/weaving at FIT. After working for a textile studio in NYC specializing in dobby and jacquard woven textile design for the contract industry, JoAnn left the city to raise her family, bringing her looms with her, and opening her own textile studio . . . on PineGrove Drive.

Since then, JoAnn has worked with a wide range of projects, clients and materials; weaving hand samples for the contract industry, supporting product development for a historic mill in Maine, and working with Alpaca farmers to bring raw fiber to the retail yarn market. Designs and products coming out of the studio have included cashmere scarves, pillows, blankets, throws and upholstery.

Along with commercial work, JoAnn maintains an active fine art/fiber arts practice, finding inspiration in nature, galleries and architectural spaces. Her personal work interprets line, texture, form and space as handwovens. Her travels to city centers and national parks throughout the US and to farther afield destinations, from Florence to Machu Picchu, are translated into woven “postcards” capturing the light and color, time and place, of these visual adventures.

This website aspires to capture and share these personal and professional journeys with you and invites you to enjoy the moments.
